STATEWIDE SPECIAL ELECTION - CANDIDATE STATUS REPORT


Information on individuals who have taken out candidacy papers for the October 7, 2003 Statewide Special Election is listed below. The deadline for individuals to file nomination papers was August 9, 2003. The Secretary of State (SOS) will issue a "Certified List of Candidates" by the close of business on August 13, 2003. Candidacy documents (which includes "nomination papers", a "declaration of candidacy" and filing fees or "signatures in lieu of filing fees" - SIL's) are filed with county election offices. Before forwarding to the SOS, counties must verify signatures on the nomination papers and SIL's.

Candidates Filed: The number of individuals for whom the Secretary of State has received one or more of the required candidacy documents.

Under Review: The number of candidate filings that are under review by either the county elections official (e.g. verifying petition signatures) or the Secretary of State (e.g. compiling signatures submitted in more than one county).

Complete: The number of candidates for whom the Secretary of State has received all the information necessary to qualify that individual for the ballot.
