Optech Eagle
Optical Scan Voting System
California counties that use Optech Eagle:
Amador, San Francisco, and San Mateo
- Sign in at the polls.
- You will receive your ballot card(s) and a secrecy folder to allow you to return your ballot in privacy.

- Using only the pen provided by the poll worker to mark your ballot.
- Mark the ballot by drawing a line between the head and the tail of the arrow next to each of your selections.
- Vote only one ballot card at a time.
- Remember to check both sides of the ballot.
- Do not vote for more than the number of candidates to be elected for each office.
- If you make a mistake, do not try to correct it. Return the ballot to a poll worker and request another ballot.

- After you have made your selections, check your ballot. Make sure the arrows are clearly marked.
- When finished, feed your ballot card(s), one by one, into the slot in the front of the Eagle.
- The "Eagle" counts the votes electronically when the ballot is inserted. The paper ballot is stored in a locked compartment inside the Eagle.
