Ethics Training

LOBBYISTS' ETHICS COURSE REQUIREMENT (GOV. CODE 86103) California Government Code Section 86103 requires lobbyists to attend an ethics course as a condition of registration. The Assembly Legislative Ethics Committee and Senate Committee on Legislative Ethics jointly conduct the ethics courses for lobbyists. The committees have announced that a new schedule of ethics course dates for lobbyists is now available.

Contact the office of the Senate Committee on Legislative Ethics at 916-651-1507 to request a sign-up form and schedule of ethics course dates be faxed to you. Advance sign-up is required. Seating is limited. Early sign-up is recommended.

IMPORTANT NOTE: It is the responsibility of each lobbyist to obtain the course schedule, to sign up for and attend the ethics course as required, and certify the ethics completion date with the office of the Secretary of State's Political Reform Division by the specified compliance deadline (see FPPC Form 604 instructions for filing requirements and compliance deadlines). There is no provision for waiver of the ethics course completion requirement or for extension of the deadline regarding the related filing requirements.
